semi-permanent moments

forgive the delay, yesterday was a snow day and i spent it accordingly! last week was filled with almost too many adventures, so i hope you enjoy all the pictures.

recently i’ve begun a crazed obsession with fried oreos! the bar my volleyball team goes to after games has them, and so i’ve begun eating them almost every time we go (which means up to three times a week!) since i’m trying to be better about it, i decided i’m only going to have them when we win our game, as a treat. hopefully i can be disciplined, and follow through with that.

tuesday was a day spent with leta. we were long overdue to hang out – so much so that this was our christmas present exchange! she has a wood burning fireplace, so in light of the cold weather, we stoked the fire and enjoyed watching the flames.

recently she bought some inkbox semi-permanent tattoos and asked for my opinion on where to place them. we decided on putting ash and pikachu on her arm. it was fun trying them out. the ink takes time to develop, as you can see the progress above! after about two weeks it’ll fade, so it’s a nice way to see what you might want in a tattoo on your body!

for christmas she gifted me with bath bombs and a picture of us! it’s the second picture she gave me of us, so i also put it on my dresser. i’m happy with how my set up looks.

last week i started duolingo for japanese. it was recommended to me by my friend, patrick, and i absolutely love it. it’s a great way to study daily, but not feel too overwhelmed. i had a really difficult time disciplining myself to study last year, so this one really motivates me. i’ll have to crack open my old books and lessons from last year and really apply myself!

on thursday my brother was in town, and even better – it was his birthday! for the occasion he, my mom, and i went to our favorite korean bbq restaurant, oegadgib. it was delicious and honestly so wonderful spending time with them.

my dearest friend, pia, recently asked me to use my hand lettering skills to write a couple phrases for her so she can frame them at work. this one made me laugh quite a bit, and turned out to be the best one i’ve ever done! i was really proud of how it turned out, that i couldn’t help but take a picture.

friday night after three hours of volleyball, i went out to a local bar with my friends. i wasn’t trying to drink, and i wanted something sweet. the dessert menu was disappointing so i settled on hot cocoa. my friends were impressed with me – only i would get hot cocoa at the bar!

on saturday night, a big snowstorm started. it snowed all the way into sunday night giving us almost a foot of snow! we had a volleyball practice scheduled for sunday night and we didn’t let the snow stop us. we headed out because all of us couldn’t wait to play. the roads were very dangerous, so honestly we might have been crazy for going out.

volleyball practice was fun, and we almost had the whole facility to ourselves. i was able to work on some set ups, and receiving some difficult serves. in some ways, i’ve really come to think of the sports complex as home.

after practice, we headed back. the snow piled up on our cars so we had to clean them off again, but there was something charming about the night and the snow gently falling on us. i was feeling very contented and it was a lovely way to end the week.
